Rallies held in Warsaw

About 30,000 people participated in the protest, organized by the Committee for the Defence of Democracy (Komitet Obrony Demokracji, KOD). People blocked major highways in the capital. Participants and organizers of the protests were against the sovereign policy of the country, calling it as “communist”. They also urged for deeper European integration.

On the other hand, practically the same number of the citizens took part in the reciprocal action, the organizers of which are opposed to the pro-Western course. Despite the fact that both protests were actually held in the same place, there was nothing reported about any civil clashes.
