Protests in occupied Serbia

Sunday, 9 April, 2017 - 14:30

There were two separated protests today in Belgrade. It is about divisions, usually, whenever something important happens in the country – people are divided and do not trust each other.

The first protest, which was massive, gathered tens of thousands of people – students, working people, those opposing Vučić's overtaking the absolute power. There was also today the protest of the unions of police and Army, and the participants joined the citizens. They all protested together in front of the Government's HQ. Lots of actors, professors and media perosnalities joined and addressed to the people present. Representatives of police and army union also held speeches. The flags of Serbia, photos of Serbian army generals started to appear, as well. The most frequent visulas were photos of Aleksandar Vučić and Maja Gojković (Parliamentary Speaker) who does not fulfill her constitutional and legal obligation to keep Parliament working, but receives the orders from the executive wing of power (from Vučić).

The second protest was held in front of the Serbian Parliament. That was a regular protest of the group of people who protest almost a year, because of the sinking of the monastery Valjevska Gračanica, ordered by Prime Ministar Vučić, with the consent of His Holiness, Patriarch Irinej, for the benefit of some big businesses. This protest gathered much less people – maybe a hundered of them, only. Monk Janićije addressed to the people present in short oration about the truth, rightfulness, sacrificing and how to understand what is going on in the country, which would be for the benefit for all Serbs and Serbia, which would teach Serbs to be united in the hard times, not divided for the benefit of foreign occupiers, but united for own benefit and benefit of Serbia.
