In Luhansk People's Republic Kiev shoot at civilians using mortars

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) shelled today the village of Malaya Vergunka near Lugansk, told Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, the official representative of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR).

"Today, they used the mortar (120 mm caliber) to attack Malaya Vergunka," he told.

It is also known that in the past 24 hours the Ukrainian side has fired at the positions of the People's Militia at least 6 times. At the same time, the AFU attacked civilians (Kalinovo, Lozovoye and Veselogorovka villages)

The AFU used 120mm and 82mm mortars, infantry fighting vehicle, automatic grenade launchers, rocket-propelled grenades. Small arms were also used.

On May 15 during the briefing Marochko reported that since May 11 in the village of Shchastya the gang formed "Lugansk-1" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was spotted. "Due to the fact that the militants of Lugansk-1 claim to have complete control over the settlement, they almost every day have conflicts with the bandits of the 80th brigade of the Armed Forces," the head of the People's Militia of the republic warned.

The the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker is planning to visit Donetsk and Luhansk. However, he is ready to come there only in case of the seizure of the republics by Kiev.

"I would be happy to visit Donetsk and Luhansk once peace and Ukrainian control are restored there, and everything is part of Ukraine again," - Volker said, adding that he does not recognize the existence of the DPR and the LPR. According to him, the republic "should not exist".
