Iraqi Forces liberate Christian capital

Iraqi Forces have liberated the largely Christian town of Qaraqosh (Bakhdida), located about 20 km southeast of Mosul, in the Hamdaniya area.

The Iraqi War Media Office reports: «The Iraqi 9th armored division and associated forces are making advances to seize Hamdaniya district. They cleared the Hamdaniya general hospital and raised the Iraqi flag over it».

Christians, who presently stay in Erbil, the capital city of Iraqi Kurdistan, ever since the capture of Hamdaniya by ISIS terrorists, met the news with relief. They are waiting to be able to return home, but at the same time, people are concerned about the future of the surrounding villages, in which militants expelled from Qaraqosh will move in to.
