Chief of Staff of the GAF Giorgi Tsabadze and Commander of Georgian Air Forces Sergo Ninua have resigned because of the outbreak of the information campaign against them, which they have connected with the planned reforms in the armed forces. In accordance with the reforms, France has agreed to take over patronage of the Georgian Air Force.

Sergo Ninua said: «Because of the directed accusations against us and the starting campaign against the Air Force command during the last time, we temporarily leave our post and demand to interrogate all those who make claims against us... If a special commission would prove that it was a campaign against the reforms in the aviation and air defense command, we will demand to be brought back to our duties. If it appears that the charges are true and we abused power, we are ready to be held accountable before the Commission».

They are accused of having links with the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, founded by Mikhail Saakashvili, while Ninua and Tsabadze rejected these accusations. However, the programs of Georgian Dream Party and United National Movement are in some way the same.

However, the conflict in the military leadership, especially against the background of joint exercises with NATO, which rapidly losing its weight in the European region, improves the interference of Georgian elites and serious corruption component in all levels of government.
