Erdogan criticized statements of the head of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the statements of the head of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces General Joseph Votela about "mass arrests" of the military in the country after the coup attempt. This was reported by the newspaper "Turkiye" today.

"General Votel should know his place. He did not have to criticize Turkey, and should be grateful to us for cleansing the country of these plotters. One of the plotters resides in your country (referring to the Islamic opposition leader Fethullah Gülen, who is behind the coup attempt) ", -. Erdogan said.

The military coup has obvious geopolitical implications. It comes after a sharp reversal in the direction of the relations of Turkey and Russia and changes on the Syrian issue made by the country's leaders . On last eve Binali Yildirim said that Turkey intends to restore relations with official Damascus.
