Afghanistan: German consulate attacked by Taliban

In Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan militants of «Taliban» attacked the German consulate. At least, 4 people were killed and about 200 wounded. However, the information about there were any affected employees of the consulate, peaceful people, or the Taliban, is not yet known.

The Taliban reported it was a "revenge attack" for a US airstrike in the volatile province of Kunduz.

A spokesman from the Taliban said: «Why shouldn’t we attack the Germans? Germany was directly involved in the airstrike which cost civilian life. The attack was based on intelligence that German soldiers had given the American troops».

A powerful truck bomb was reported to strike the German consulate. After that, mass armed attack between the militants and German security personnel began.

Now the investigation of this event is being held. Moreover, The Federal Foreign Office of Germany holds an emergency meeting about the happened incident.
