Ronin
Whenever there is any doubt, there is no doubt
Ronin: literally, ‘wave-man’; one who is tossed about hither and thither, as a wave of the sea. It is used to designate persons of gentile blood, entitled to bear arms, who, having become separated from their feudal lords by their own act, or by dismissal, or by fate, wander about the country in the capacity of somewhat disreputable knights-errant, without ostensible means of living… - Algernon Bertram Freeman-Mitford, Tales of Old Japan (1871)
Earlier this month, before the Ides of March 2023, they came for Arktos: at long last, the long hand of ‘woke capital’ censorship struck down the West’s last great - certainly its most illustrious - dissident publishing house, Arktos Media. By depriving Arktos of its print and distribution outlets, the censors managed to bring down, at one fell stroke, dozens of the Western dissident movement’s most renowned writers and talented publicists. At the mere flick of a switch, years of carefully crafted work, including perfectly balanced translations, painstakingly researched re-editions, powerful graphic design, finely tuned academic annotation and top-tier philosophical enquiry - to say nothing of the collective life-work of scholars, researchers and editors - was obliterated. After nobody knows how many years of sneaky tunneling and malicious digging under ramparts - ramparts that they were unable to take in a straight fight - the enemies of truth-searching and truth-speaking finally brought down Arktos, the one last great bastion of the dissident free press, which had managed to survived even the first three years of the Great Reset - doubtlessly to their immense chagrin. Since the sabotage of the ‘Alt-Right’ and the set-up of ‘Charlottesville’ in the summer of 2017, all true dissidents were gradually driven from the political arena, the mainstream media, the social media and the public sphere, through variously dosed combinations of antifa violence, travel bans, ‘hate-speech’ lawfare, ‘deplatforming’ and ‘debanking’. Starting in early 2020, this process was hugely accelerated during the Great Reset: the formal ‘covid’-closure of the Western public square, the demoralizing anti-justice of the BLM campaign, the brazen imposition of the ‘Biden’ coup, the open terror of the ‘vaccination’ persecution and the ‘1984’-level mass-dissonance achieved by the ‘Ukraine’ madness. By early 2023, Arktos was the one last substantial bulwarks of free speech remaining - this beacon has now been extinguished.
It is not unreasonable to suspect that the most direct cause of Arktos final ‘deplatforming’ was its courageous stance for free speech against the tidal wave of misinformation and disinformation put out by the globalist mainstream media in support of the globalist war of aggression against Russia. Over the course of 2022, this tidal wave of deceits and lies - increasingly shrill to the point of unhinged mania - even swept up a lot of previously reliable dissident voices, with previously solidly anti-globalist commentators and publicists suddenly going off the deep end by doing a 180 degree turn and openly voicing support for NATO and all those other letter-institutions that had gone in for all-out war against Russia. In a sense, the ‘Ukraine’ issue was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back: the Western dissident right had already been hopelessly divided on many other, earlier ‘thesis-antithesis’ Great Reset issues, unable to find a common strategy - let alone make a common effort - on what should have been typical ‘no-brainers’ such as ‘covid’ restrictions and the ‘vaccine’ mandates. Arktos was one of the very few dissident outlets that steadfastly refused to cheer-lead for the Neo-Khazar Kiev regime or to back-stab Russia in its life-and-death struggle against the Western Empire of Lies. Russia’s leading light in Neo-Eurasianist metapolitical thought, Aleksandr Dugin, proven to be high on the Kiev-Washington target-list during the cowardly assassination of his daughter Darya in August 2022, remained on Arktos’ author roster. This simple act of loyalty - actually nothing but consistent adherence to metapolitical first principles and to basic intellectual integrity - may very well have caused Arktos’ present deplatforming. Such is the predictable cost of telling the truth in the face of falsehood - but there is no choice when it comes to facing the kind of pure and undisguised evil that has now risen in the West. The writer of this short essay, who has been a member of the Arktos’ publicists circle for some years now, salutes Arktos for its courage in standing up for what is right - and its stated determination to continue the good fight.
In the short run, the enemies of truth-searching and truth-speaking, have undoubtedly won a victory - although not a victory that is in any way surprising or even as substantial as it may appear at first sight. No serious observer could have doubted that, eventually, they would come for, and ‘get’ Arktos - the odds against the dissident movement were simply stacked too high and the woke-totalitarian momentum simply too great to resist. Also, the actual people that made Arktos into what it was are all still alive and free - free to, eventually, recombine and realign into something much more powerful. In the short run, there will be no shortage of Schadenfreude among our enemies - and ‘friends’ and our ‘families’ even: ‘civic-nationalist’ (a.k.a. ‘conservative-liberal’) political competitors who safely stayed within their comfortable ‘Overton Window’, ‘woke’ academic and media former colleagues who chose the broad path of well-paid conformity and those ever ‘politically correct’ social acquaintances who resent any whiff of independence of mind - they will all be having their ‘told you so’ moments at our expense. But deep down even the most malignantly narcissist and most effectively self-lobotomized of these ‘critics’ and ‘commenters’ will know that the end-result of the ongoing war for the truth very much hangs in the balance. It hangs in the balance everywhere and the ‘mainstream’ narratives to which the ‘normies’ cling are now so thread-bare that reality is starting to show everywhere. The ‘covid’, ‘vaccine’, ‘J6’ and ‘Ukraine’ narratives are disintegrating before their very eyes. The greater narratives that enable and feed these smaller narratives, i.e. the psycho-historical conditioning by years of accumulated lies and projections which have been imposed on people by educational dumbing-down, media brain-wash and political theater, are, in turn, being affected by the break-down of the smaller narratives. A breaking point in perception is slowly approaching: the ‘event horizon’ of globalist-nihilism and liberal-normativism is creeping forward. Western Post-Modernity is running out of time. Only brute force can now sustain the Empire of Lies that the globalist power-elite has built over the ruins of the ex-West - and even in that respect it is now meeting its match on the (geopolitical) battle-field. Russia, and mobilizing alongside and behind it its rising multi-polar alliance, is inexorably grounding the Empire of Lies into the dust, in all spheres - most literally on the fields of Little Russia. This is the larger picture. It gives us reason to carefully revaluate any incidental event, and any point ‘scored’ by the enemy, in the here and now. And there is more than the here and now: there is the momentum of History itself, the force that Traditionalists know as the Wheel of Time and that grinds exceedingly fine anything that stands in its way.
The globalist enemy may clearly seem victorious at this moment, in the here and now, but there are hidden forces at work as well. Thus, the enemy may have succeeded, for the moment, in ‘deplatforming’ Arktos’ living writers’ collective, which was arguably the ex-Western world’s most-censored dissident publicist collective, but there is another group of creative minds that has been silenced as well, viz. Arktos’ posthumous writers, including some of the most illustrious names in old Western philosophy, science and literature. For the victorious censors, the silencing of these ‘dead white guys’ and their ‘hate-speech’ filled works may just appear to be welcome ‘collateral damage’ inflicted upon their larger ‘crime think’ target, but it is this ‘double silencing of the dead’ that undoubtedly incurs the most powerful ‘karmic charge’. To meddle with the memory and the legacy of the dead, who are not here to defend themselves, but whose presence is embodied in the very fabric of the present - as in the identity, culture and civilization they co-created - is dangerous in the extreme. The off-hand imposition of a ‘second death’ sentence on these powerful ancestors, without so much as a hint of reverence or hesitation, is tantamount to purposefully challenging the most archetypal life-force that animates Western civilization. Apparently, the politically correct ‘diversity’ agents employed by ‘woke capital’ to censor away the great dead of the West now feel they are ‘home free’, free to overthrow the memorial stones and dig up the cemeteries of the supposedly forever-defeated West. They forget, however, that they are desecrating places and persons protected by ancient numinous forces that far outstrip their own miniaturized minds and amputated consciousnesses. The desecration of even the most minimalist burial ground or memorial stone, consecrated by even the most ‘primitive’ nation is fraught with high danger: even the most simple-minded Hollywood consumer knows what forces are bound to appear from horror-masterpieces such as ‘The Shining’ and ‘The Last Wave’. How much more is risked in the deliberate desecration of the monumental work and the awesome legacy of the most powerful thinkers of the most powerful civilization in human history, viz. that of the world-conquering West?
Finally, there is another hidden - but related - factor at work: the manner in which the tyranny and terror of the last years, i.e. the accumulating injustices and suffering inflicted, changes us. As a hot enough fire purifies gold and as strong enough pressure creates diamonds, so the sacrifices and experiences of the last years have to power to transform us. Till the point of creating an indestructible force - till we become one with our ancestral archetype and personify it. So, let us see the inherent good found at the bottom of any defeat: the way it corrects - the way it creates a leaner and meaner us. There is so much superfluous stuff, so much unnecessary baggage, so much useless thinking that we can jettison - and come out the stronger. On the battlefields of Little Russia - perhaps soon elsewhere or even everywhere - such steeling experiences are right now creating new realities, new life-concepts and new men. With this in mind, after the fall of Arktos - and the fall of so many other public-space safe-zones over the last years - the writer here wishes to impress upon his fellow dissident writers and readers the need for maintaining steely discipline and hard-eyed truth-discernment during the next phase of the event-cycle in which we find ourselves caught up, or more accurately: in which we chose to participate. That next phase is clearly a phase in which the movement of which we were once part - let us call that the ‘dissident right movement’ for convenience’s sake - no longer exists as a viable collective enterprise. We have to be realistic about that. Deprived of any substantial presence in either politics, the mainstream media or the social media, and now also without a truly independent publisher, we, the remnants of the dissident right are now effectively leaderless, decimated and scattered across the now globalist-conquered ex-West. All our steady reference points, and all the allegiances that we may have once had, are now gone. But that is exactly the point that re-creates reality. Unwittingly, the enemy has created something much more formidable than what it thought he defeated: he has created a new us. Enter the Ronin of the West.
