Pakistan Needs Unity

Pakistan is located in one of the most volatile region of the world. The geostrategic environment of the region has provided hard choices internally as well as externally. Consequently economic recession, political instability, and insecurity have become fate throughout the history. The state has faced challenges vis-à-vis democratic transition, particularly in the post 9/11 scenario. To overcome such fate, political maturity is lynchpin towards the path of peace and prosperity. Democratic values are core to achieve a positive sum game. The incumbent government has so far achieved productive results to establish Pakistan as responsible international actor in several sectors. The institutional harmony especially civil-military bonding, economic reformation, and national security agendas are the top most priorities in the contemporary scenario. 

 

 

On the other hand, military has always considered regional security environment core to the idea of survival of state. The prime actor (masses) remained in complex state of affairs over the conflict of interest between civil military tug of war and power politics. The outcomes provided disharmony and disunity at national level. Thanks to evolving democracy that this gap is being covered and a progressive society is in the formation. The economic indicators are providing a favorable balance. The emerging economic opportunities along with encouraging policies to the business community have raised eyebrows of investment fraternity internally as well as externally. 

Recent developments regarding institutional harmony led towards the consensus among political leadership over national security priorities. It seems that the state of Pakistanis realizing its potential and getting rid of the fluctuating policies for the betterment of society. The distribution of resources among political units is giving pace to national unity. Fortunately, the constitutional organs are also taking responsibility which is marking an absolute check and balance approach. The meddling in each other’s affairs to protect the interests of particular class is being undermined. A harmonious society is inevitable. 

 

Since the arrival of incumbent parliament in August 2018, the opposition parties in the country are not making due and satisfactory contribution to run the daily businesses of the country. The hostile elements are getting favor out of it. In lieu of that, the recent consensus of the government and opposition over the issue of amendment in the Army Act is a good omen, which will have positive affects in future legislations. The sense of responsibility amongst the opposition parties is commendable. It should be continued because anti-Pakistan elements will left no stone unturned to malign the country and its potentials. The treasury benches should also come out and create harmony in the house so that political and other objectives are achieved. 

 

 

The tensions in the West Asia gave an alarming signal to Islamabad to revisit its policies. History is always the best teacher to avoid the upcoming calamities. Afghan conundrum should be considered while formulating the strategies vis-à-vis power shift and emerging alliances as a lesson. Today, Pakistan is located on the edge to mark another historical impact in international arena. The rational actor model should be prescription to end all the hazardous diseases from which it suffered turmoil at home throughout the history. Pakistan’s geo-strategic pivot is compelling major powers including Russia and United State of America to sit with the country’s leadership and seek its assistance in resolving various regional and international issues. The recent of example of this is the mounting Saudi-Iran and Iran-America tension. 

 

In the existing scenario, Pakistan cannot be ignored. In the neighborhood of Pakistan, there are so many issues, which are directly linked with the global peace. Anything happening in the region and neighborhood will have direct spill over in Pakistan. The leadership in the Pakistan should realize its pivot in the region and mend it domestic issues and differences to play a positive role in the global affairs. After many decades, Pakistan is once again getting the status of international and regional player.
