Montenegrin deadlock

20.10.2014
The official policy of Montenegro is Euro-Atlantic integration policy. Currently because of the situation in the EU, the main goal is membership in NATO. The Montenegro’s government was convinced that would receive an invitation for membership at a summit this year in Wales, however it did not happen.

Unofficially NATO representatives have complained that the intelligence sector in Montenegro has Russian agents, estimates where from 20 do 50. Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic categorically refused that insinuation, arguing that the information is incorrect and that Western representatives never put this question in their talks. And probably the Prime Minister Djukanovic is right. Because many more Russian agents are in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland and they are all members of the NATO alliance.

The real problem is more serious for the advocates of joining the NATO alliance. Last CEDEM survey shows that for joining NATO alliance is 35 percent and against is 45 percent of Montenegro citizens, while 20 percent is undecided. Before the summit in Wales National Coordinator for NATO Nebojsa Kaludjerovic said that the support for NATO membership is from 43 to 48 percent, it was done with the aim of spinning to get an invitation for NATO membership. The call did not come,  because of that the campaign is intensified. So now National TV is embarking a new series in which will promote the entry into NATO, the NATO ground network of activists is quite strong and networked. From seminars across the camp, to help the population.

NATO lobbyists have expressed working with young people, especially students. Despite the fact that in Montenegro there is no well-organized and networked opposition to NATO, but only a few poorly organized NGOs, the government is not able to convince people to be for NATO integration. One of the main reasons is the bombing of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as everything that was happening after the bombing. Despite persuading people of Montenegro that Kosovo is unimportant, that the bombing was for the ,,benefit” of Montenegro, people in Montenegro has a very historical memory. The historical memory is very strong and for Russia, which normally people in Montenegro call Mother Russia.

But the current government has understood this and started to  affect the consciousness of citizens. The main objective is to change the minds of people towards Russia and its culture. Immediately came into the scene eligible historians, publicists with their revolutionary discovery that Russia has never helped Montenegro. That the relationship of Russia to Montenegro was purely out of interest, and if anyone thinks otherwise, is in serious error.

The problem in Montenegro is that all the leading media hold people who kept personal interests, and are strongly influenced by western power structures that promote entry into NATO. The main goal is to change the awareness and historical beings of Montenegro. However, despite the strong propaganda the people of Montenegro is holding on.
