Metaphysics of the Great Reset
In the previous article "THE ROOTS OF THE GREAT RESET. FROM MALTHUS TO BERGOGLIO" (only Italian version available), we examined the mostly economic, social-political dynamics of the GREAT RESET, wondering whether the reason for the policies of depopulation and deindustrialisation was not to be found in the metaphysical order. As distinct and distant as the worlds of philosophical thought and action may seem, they are in fact mysteriously connected. Actions derive from judgements and these derive from one's worldview. Economics and finance, although for many, steeped in materialism, are the ultimate goals, for others they are merely the tools for pursuing goals of a metaphysical order, conditioned by certain beliefs and worldviews. In contemporary societies, narcotized by mechanism and linearism, all that is intangible is relegated to indifference and labelled 'opium of the people'. In reality, it is materialism and, above all, mechanicism that alienate people from reality, abstracting them from any metaphysical vision. For economics to be at the service of humanity, it is first necessary to know who man is (anthropology), but this can only be understood in the light of metaphysics. The world of ideas contends between two strongholds, two different interpretative paradigms of universal history, based on two opposing judgements on being. In recent times, we are witnessing the final clash, a no-holds-barred ideological war between orthodox and gnostic thought, between Christian civilisation and what many have called the civilisation of the antichrist, an emblematic figure that I have already examined in my latest book "The Last Antichrist. Identikit of the most diabolical man in history according to ancient and modern prophecies'.
COMPLEXITY AND CONTROL
Capitalism must survive at any cost, even at the cost of bringing down those liberal-democratic systems that have supported and sustained it all these years. In order to survive, capitalism needs to change host organism, in the same way that gnosis penetrates every form of thought by contaminating it from within. But why should capitalism abandon the liberal-democratic system, establish a world dictatorship and depopulate the planet for its own survival? The answer is provided by the liberalist models themselves, fabricated by the superb linear minds that believe - illusorily - that they can control non-linear reality, far more complex than their abstruse thoughts. 'Almighty infants' intent on forging analytical traps for the sole purpose of dominating the world, predicting its future states with a view to profit maximisation. Paraphrasing Edgar Morin, we can say that the aim of the great international capitalist is to discard as epiphenomenal everything that does not fit into its simplifying scheme. If the world is complex, so much the worse for the world: we simplify it, reducing it to its lowest terms. We standardise people by making them anonymous consumers, we impose algorithms on them, we restrict their freedoms and condition their will, making them believe they are still free. We depower them socially and empower them technologically, making them automatons. But that is not enough. To reduce complexity, it is necessary to break down relationships, because it is these that make a social system greater than the sum of its parts, and thus a complex system. Given seven billion individuals, if we make them all the same, liquid and aseptic, we will have reduced the number of variables in the system of equations, making everything easier to predict and control for the purposes of speculation, which is the determining factor in the instability of capitalism.
DE-INDUSTRIALISE TO INCREASE PROFIT RATES
The process of capital accumulation must never cease, and for this to be possible, it is necessary that production does not grow too much, due to the decreasing marginal productivity of capital, which Keynes called marginal efficiency of capital, otherwise known as the expected net rate of return or net profit rate on the cost of capital. Well, as investment increases, the rate of profit decreases and this in the long run slows down the process of capital accumulation, which is at the heart of turbo-capitalism. In order to continue to accumulate capital at a fast pace, the ruling financial elite has sought to destroy one system and create another in which they 'steer' markets towards new solutions and readily invest in new virgin markets, where monopoly leaves no room for competitors and profit rates are significantly higher. Indeed, if there were a few large companies in the world instead of many small ones, their expected internal rates of return would be much higher. This is because the process of capital accumulation tending towards infinity moves in a finite world. David Ricardo already showed that the profit rate is equal to the ratio of productivity to wages minus unity. This means that there is an inverse relationship between the profit rate and the unit wage. As long as productivity exceeds the living wage there is profit, but as wages grow (due to increased bargaining power induced by increased employment) the profit rate tends to zero. Hence the fall in the profit rate, which can be offset by technological innovation and employment and wage contraction through deflation or some lockdown.
MONOPOLY AND GOVERNMENT
Economic theory teaches that in monopolistic competition, if the firm decides on the quantity to be produced, the market makes the price, so that the revenue curve, after a certain level of production, begins to decrease. In a market economy, the large oligopolists cannot control either quantity or price, unless governments provide a universal pure subsistence wage and force the population to consume products at the price defined by the manufacturers (e.g. pharmaceuticals). This is what the Great Reset is for, this is the reason for the fourth industrial revolution, whereby man becomes an embedded hi-tech factor of production, a hi-tech capital good in limited series, forced to consume the carobs thrown by tyrants. It is no coincidence that Blackrock has pushed the markets towards ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) as a new form of business. Blackrock CEO Larry Fink said:
"Climate change has become a defining factor for the long-term prospects of companies... we are on the brink of a fundamental reshaping of finance. In the near future - and sooner than many predict - there will be a significant reallocation of capital... Climate risk is an investment risk." "Every government, company and shareholder must address climate change" (HERE)
But this is only an intermediate goal looking towards the final, exquisitely metaphysical one.
THE SUPREMACY OF ELITES AND THE ENLIGHTENED TYRANT
Metaphysics, politics and economics are more connected than one might think. This is confirmed by former Worshipful Master Giuliano DI Bernardo, in his book The Future of Homo Sapiens. Here he explains why in order to save capitalism we should abandon the liberal-democratic system, depopulate the planet and establish a single world government led by what he calls the 'One-God'. In this world there would have to be man-gods and man-men, and the latter would be totally subservient to the One-god and his close circle of wise men, thanks to 5G, artificial intelligence and pandemic emergencies. Di Bernardo writes:
'The technologies associated with artificial intelligence, 5G (and later) communication and the Internet give, to those in control, immense power. When technological power is subservient to political power, those who govern politics will be able to make unconditional use of it to achieve their ends.
China holds the 5G technology, which not only puts it in a position of privilege and dominance over other countries, but is also a formidable tool for social control. Those in power also have exclusive use of scientific and technological innovations. The Chinese rulers have shown that the capitalist ideology of economic growth can take root even in a country whose form of government is dictatorial. The consequence of this is that the <liberalism-capitalism-democracy> trinomial is broken and democracy no longer appears as the only form of government to underpin it. Capitalism is thus freed from the trinomial and becomes an instrument that can be used in any form of government. This means that even if liberalism and democracy were to cease to exist in the future, capitalism could survive them. The question is then whether capitalism will be functional in the global society.
Only the government of the One can effectively and completely control the actions of individuals in society. To do so, it has at its disposal powerful technological tools, such as artificial intelligence, the internet and the 5G communication network. Covid-19 was an opportunity to make us Westerners aware of how social control is exercised in China. One example is sufficient. When an individual tests positive for the virus, health authorities can enter his mobile phone and track his movements. If he has been on a train, everyone who has travelled with him is identified and a quarantine is imposed on them. And so on. To exercise social control, China does not need the support of other powers, such as religions. Science and its technological applications will provide it with everything it needs to achieve its goal.
Asked by a journalist who was his prototype of an enlightened tyrant, Di Bernardo replied: 'If I had to name one, I would say the Pope'. It was 22 February 2016.
THE ROOT OF EVIL
What the former Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Italy sees as a 'paradisiacal world' has some characteristic elements of a typical worldview. Whenever we come across a system centred on the supremacy of elites, operating in a secretive and anti-historical manner, which despises the material world into which it has been thrown - as well as the masses that populate it - and advocates a return to mythical divine origins, to an undifferentiated whole, through mystical enlightenment, the prerogative of the enlightened or pneumatic alone, we find ourselves before the spirit of gnosis. Here, only the best are saved, only the elect are freed from sin, performing evil to overcome it and returning to being what they were before being cast into matter: gods. They can be accompanied by some of the psychics, that is, those who, not being divine, can, however, lend themselves to the designs of the tyres. Then, there are the hilics, who constitute - according to the tyres - the vast majority of humanity. The hilics are the earthly, the material, the irredeemable, the boundless abysses of impetuous passions and of every base vice, overflowing with greed, envy, sloth, hatred, wickedness and all manner of bestiality. For them there can be no salvation - the prerogative of the elect alone - but only perdition. They can never know the truth and must therefore submit to the rules imposed by the enlightened ones.
The world of ideas contends between two strongholds, two different interpretative paradigms of universal history, which are based on two opposing judgements on being. On the one hand, the concept of being interpreted as participation emerges; on the other, as fall. Choosing one or the other changes the entire worldview and politics, as actions depend on judgements, and these are formulated according to their own philosophical principles. The nature of knowledge runs along a continuum between orthodox and gnostic thought. Epistemology (the relationship between the observer and reality) is contested in an incessant and wearisome tug-of-war. When I used to teach research methods for business, I often invited my students to read Colin Fisher's text, Researching and Writing a Dissertation: A Guidebook for Business Students, an outstanding book, which summarises the differences between the orthodox and gnostic paradigms as follows (see p. 16):
Orthodox paradigm |
Gnostic paradigm |
There is objective truth |
Truth is subjective |
Truth is simple and transparent |
Truth is hidden |
Truth is an organic set of knowledge |
Truth is gained through personal struggle |
Conformity and obedience |
Challenge and diversity |
Transparent language |
Language is ambiguous |
If truth is objective, it can only be the result of the natural convergence of several cognitive processes starting from different initial hypotheses. The transparency of language, conformity and obedience to the scientific method means that an experiment can be repeated anywhere by anyone under the same conditions. This implies that science to be science must be democratic and based on the observation of precise laws. Otherwise, ambiguous language, non-conformity and non-observance of rules do not allow convergence, but nurture opinion, which tends increasingly to crystallise into a subjective truth that clashes with others, until the domination of one over all others. This is the path of dogmatism, i.e., of an imposed subjective truth that covers objective truth. The possibility of moving from a realist approach (whereby we try to know the world while recognising that it is influenced by our subjectivity) to a hermetic/esoteric one (whereby knowledge is uncertain and its link to reality is hidden) is always just around the corner. The risk of overstepping the perimeter of science and slipping into the meanders of scientific dogmatism is always imminent, since two different visions that have always contended with the world are in play. Even politics is intimately affected, much to the chagrin of materialists. At certain levels, no one is a materialist and everyone has to choose sides. Materialism is the real opium of the people. Many believe that politics and, above all, geopolitics are driven solely by economic power relations and that everything else is superstructure. In reality, the exact opposite is true, and today's geopolitical situation is proof of this. The Ukrainian crisis is merely the expression of an ideological, spiritual and mental war between the Orthodox and Gnostic views. The former defends the dignity of every person, the latter the dignity of the few. From a geopolitical point of view, the former seeks to implement an international equilibrium where diversity is a wealth to be safeguarded, while the latter seeks to maintain an order centred on the hegemony of the few over the many, on the clearance of immorality, on the impoverishment of the human and the empowerment of the hybrid, and which manifests itself mainly through the Great Reset and its variants. The root of evil, which feeds transhumanistic turbo-capitalism, depopulation policies and deindustrialisation under the aegis of an aberrant ecologism, draws its sap from the humus of gnosis.
