IT IS WEST, NOT RUSSIA RESPONSIBLE FOR UKRAINE CONFLICT

20.03.2022

The Western states never thought something positive about Russia. They always tried something negative to malign Russia’s Putin and his governance model. From Putin critic Navlany to Ukraine war, both West and US have been trying to condemn Russian role by encouraging Ukraine to involve in war against Russia. Both West and US had given fake hopes to Ukraine for membership of EU and joining NATO. Russia, however, warned Ukraine regarding possible implications for this strategic move. Ukraine, on the other hand, ignored all Russian legitimate concerns, which possibly led to launching of special military operation of Russia in Ukraine.

Russian special military operations are for protecting its own strategic as well as national interests which are under threat due to the strategic support of West and US to Ukraine. After getting humiliating defeat in Afghanistan, US is looking for another potential conflict to put entire global and regional peace at stake. This time it decided to choose Russian immediate neighbor Ukraine. The US, however, had no idea that its actions could disturb balance of power in the region and they may also trigger WWIII. Even, President Biden has acknowledged that US direct involvement in the conflict will be start of WWIII. It also had no idea how Putin would react to protect his country’s national as well as strategic interests. This conflict has proved that US is trying to derail peace as well as economic cooperation in the region. This is the best time to redefine global world order by setting aside US and Western dominance.

Likewise, International Media views Russian special military operations in Ukraine as an opportunity for American administration to cement relationship with EU and deepen ties with its Asian allies, as well as to re-align conflicts with rivals such as China, Iran and North Korea. This, however, is not the best assumption. Since taking over the reins of power in Washington, Biden administration has been trying to pressurize Russia’s Putin over various regional as well as global issues without realizing the consequences of the development. After its defeat in Afghanistan, US is also trying to show its international strategic pivot by instigating Ukraine’s sentiments against Russia. But, this time around, all went against the wishes of US and its Western allies.

US is trying to redefine its alliances in the region and for that matter, it has joined hands with anti-China and Russia camp. The US has increased its defence activities in South China Sea to poke China. It did the same by supporting Ukraine, which were meant to poke Russia. Now, US is openly threatening China for its possible military assistance to Russia in the wake of special military operation of Putin in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Western countries such as France, Germany and UK are also joining hands with US in this regard.  These US actions are unlikely to have impact on Chinese leadership because of Beijing’s global outreach. If US and its Western allies continues to pressurize Russia and China, the world will have to face the consequences in the shape of economic and political.

Likewise, Russia is acting in a responsible way to de-escalate the developing situation in Ukraine. It has offered ceasefire and urged dialogue between both states while seeking security guarantees from West and US. Now, both US and West must come forward and follow Russian offer in a positive way. Both should not encourage Ukraine for further military confrontation with Russia. Ukraine must get away from joining NATO and EU as these two are major reason behind this conflict. The onus is also in on EU and NATO states to stop this conflict from further escalation. They must reject Ukraine’s application for memberships.

If they didn’t do that, than they will be responsible for this chaos and humanitarian catastrophe. They will have the blood of innocent people on their hands and cannot just walk away from that. So, they must have to make decision to stop this blood. Russia and Ukraine both are at the crossroads. Both will have to act responsibly now. The US and West both should not send further military assistance to Ukraine as it may take the conflict to full-scale war. In larger public interests, they should encourage Ukraine to hold direct and comprehensive talks with Russia.
