Agenda Setting by RSS and BJP on Indian Media

Constitution of India envisages being a secular state. The successors of fascist RSS in the shape of present day ruling BJP party under the guiding inhuman principles of Hindutva has caused an inhuman scenario for 55% non-Hindu population of India and mainly 22% Muslim population of India by setting an agenda.

BJP’s government led to violation of Indian constitution’s provisions severely causing a compromised constitution, legal framework of India, Judicial setup, governance and administrative approach towards Indian subjects. This made Indian societies in non-coherent mass of people interacting with each other on extremes. Though, the Hindus are almost 45% of India but they take themselves as having the only right to rule India. The extremist BJP propagating the philosophy of Hindutva towards Hindustan for Hindus only caused a severe rift between Hindus and the Muslims being ex-rulers of Hindustan from 1206-1857 continuously.

Hindutva ideology has been dominant since Nerandra Modi came to power. The ideology believes within the inverted version of the traditional followers of Hindu Religion, or their ancestors had adopted foreign religions like Islam and Christianity. However, Savarkar regarded Muslims because the real enemy, as Islamic ideology was apparently a threat to the Hindu nation. Today, Islam and Muslims are perceived as an obstacle against the aspirations of the Hindu so much right. This describes the very fact that Indians claim to be the biggest democracy within the world which their policies are controlled by Hindu extremist factions like RSS and BJP. Proponents of this ideology believe that the nice India unified below Hindutva and under the leadership of Modi would cause greatness, represented within the stories of the religious writing, which are with pride and persistently projected by the Indian media.

It is incongruous that the murderer of Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse a member of the obsessive group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to which Modi too owes adherence, is now being admired as a hero by the Majoritarian characters of Hindutva. After rising to power in 2014, BJP formed a documentary film Desh Bhakt Nathuram Godse (Patriot Nathuram Godse) for release on the death anniversary of Gandhi on 30 January 2015. There were efforts to construct a temple for Godse and to rejoice 30 January as a Shaurya Diwas (“Bravery Day”).

The two premier successor of Indian government in violation of their constitution leading framework and judicial system have re-started Shuddhi and Sangathan Movements in India which was and is a “cleansing movement’ meaning ‘Cleansing of Muslims’ from India. This cleansing is focused in historically Muslim area i.e. “Uttar Pradesh, Dehli, Bihar and Kashmir”.

BJP Government introduced some new legal provisions and fortified the previous rules under new titles to deal with the Muslim minorities with all the oppression. The enactment by Indian Parliament in terms of Tada, Pota, AFSPA, abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir all goes with the above mentioned statements.

The media is literal echo of what is going on. The print and electronic media is so much under the control of the Hindutva that it has become impossible for the media channels to publish any news against the Hindutva ideology. In the elections of 2014 and 2019, India’s Muslim minority about 22% percent of the population was dealt a serious setback. Their parliamentary presence dropped to just 22 seats, or just 4 percent of the total available, the lowest Muslim representation in five decades. Modi and his party created a poisonous atmosphere that has dehumanized minorities and inspired the violence. But such type of news has never been on aired in Indian media.

Indian media is playing significant role in poising the hearts and minds of the masses of India against Indian minorities especially Muslims. However, media being a fourth pillar of the state, is strictly obeying the instructions of the ruling elites by broadcasting the news which falls only in BJP’s court.
