West pushes Turkey into war with Russia

The UN Security Council refused to accept the Russian resolution on Syria. It is sharply opposed by France, Britain and the United States. The Russian project contains calls to abandon plans to invade Syria and condemned the shelling of the territory of the country. In the north of Syria Turkey engaged in the shelling of Kurdish positions. In the south of the country Israel has repeatedly attacked on the positions of Syrian troops and "Hezbollah". US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar have announced their readiness to send troops to the country.

EU support to Turkey

Countries of the European Union, meanwhile, supported the Turkish plans for a "no-fly zone" over Syria and the "security zone" in the northern part of the country. Officially, for the protection of the civilian population, but it is most likely to preserve the combat potential of the opposition groups. The implementation of this plan requires the occupation of the Syrian territory and conducting military air operations against the Syrian army. French President Francois Hollande said on the possibility of a war between Russia and Turkey.

The ambiguity of the US' position

The Presidents of Turkey and the United States discussed the situation in the country by telephone. As a result, both called on Russia to stop their military air operation in Syria. At the same time, according to the Turkish side, Obama supported "Turkey's right to defend itself", and, according to the press service of the White House, called on Ankara to cease their bombardment of Syrian Kurds.

Loosening both sides

The rejection of the Russian proposal demonstrates that the Western countries are ready to support the aggressive actions of Turkey, and are willing to take part in the conflict. However there is a possibility of a third scenario, pitting Turkey and Russia; the West will remain on the sidelines until the two states are sufficiently weakened and the crisis' resolution requires the intervention of a third force. Thus, both Turkey and Russia will lose in the conflict.

Support to ISIS

At the same time the United States withdrew their bombers B-1 "Lancer" from Syria. Previously, these bombers were used to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Thus, the United States formally rolled back their air operation against "Islamic State" after the Syrian army spoke about planning for the march to the ‘capital' of ISIS - Raqqa.

Kurdish card

At the same time the United States does not want to give up the use of the Kurdish card, but they also showed the Syrian Kurds that in the event of rapprochement with Russia, they are ready to close their eyes to certain activities of Turkey.
