NATO tightens the noose on Erdogan's throat

09.09.2016

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg concludes his two-day visit to Turkey. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the shaky relations after attempting a coup on the 15th of July, 2016.

NATO's involvement in the coup attempt

The coup participants actively collaborated with the structures of the NATO alliance. The NATO Response Force in Turkey became one of the main strike forces of the putschists. The NATO airbase at Incirlik also was used by Erdogan’s enemies. The actions of the conspirators were coordinated the CIA. The aim of the coup was to prevent the previously outlined rapprochement between Turkey and Russia.

Stoltenberg wants Turkey to stay

The main purpose of the visit by Stoltenberg is to keep Turkey in NATO and convince its leadership not to leave the organization. Earlier, the country's leadership had frozen the activity of the Incirlik airbase. There have been reports that the US stockpiled nuclear weapons there. On the eve Stoltenberg's visit, he spoke about how NATO defends Turkey, referring to placing the country's anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems like the "Patriot" missiles and and US AWACS planes patrolling Turkish airspace. Stoltenberg forgot to mention that the Turks began in July 2016 negotiations on the” Patriot” systems and American AWACS were used to coordinate the actions of the putschists during the coup attempt.

Sixth column

Supporting Stoltenberg are a good number of Atlanticist agents of influence in the Turkish leadership and the armed forces. However, the preservation of Turkey as part of NATO means the conservation of leverage that can be used to organize a new anti-Erdogan coup, and hence the possibility of a new attempt at ousting the Turkish president from power is preserved.
