National Assembly of Venezuela will consider Emergency Bill

A group of parliamentarians from the revolutionary bloc, Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), on Monday proposed a bill to address the economic emergency, and presented it to parliament on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro. It is associated with the decrease of oil prices, which is the primary source of income for the country. The Minister of Economy and Production, Vice President Luis Salas, said that the government plans to stimulate the economy, without the implementation of neo-liberal measures that impair the purchasing capacity of people.

Liberal blockade

At the moment, the United Socialists and their allies are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation in the country. But it seems that the right-liberal opposition will oppose these simply on the grounds that the proposals are coming from Maduro and his colleagues in Parliament. Any constructive ideas from the liberal block have not reported yet.

The bourgeois opposition and constitutional crisis

After the victory of right-wing parties in the parliamentary elections, Chavistas will no longer have a majority in the National Assembly.

Earlier, on January 5th, 163 new members of the National Assembly of Venezuela were sworn in, and they appointed Henri Ramos Allup to be Speaker of the National Assembly. Thus, for the first time in 17 years, the liberal opposition will control the Venezuelan parliament.

On December 30th , the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) issued decree number 260, which recognized the requirement to challenge the results of the parliamentary elections in the districts of Amazonas, Aragua and Yaracuy, with indigenous representative from the Southern region. But this has been ignored by the opposition and the controversial new members sworn in. In addition, the right bloc in parliament, which has close ties with Washington, immediately began to provoke the manipulation of public opinion in order to trigger a new round of unrest.
